Nagaland has taken a historic step in its journey towards climate leadership and sustainable governance. YesEarth Eco Consulting is honoured to contribute to the vision of transforming the Nagaland Legislative Assembly into a Model Net Zero and Zero Waste Campus by 2028—a first-of-its-kind initiative in the state.
This landmark project represents more than infrastructural transformation. It is a bold statement of intent—that Nagaland’s highest House of Laws can also be a House of Sustainability, where cultural pride and climate responsibility walk hand in hand.
Leadership and Guidance
The session to present this vision was chaired by Hon’ble Speaker Shri Sharingain Longkumer, and enriched by the presence and guidance of distinguished leaders:
- Shri K. G. Kenye, Minister of Power & Parliamentary Affairs
- Shri Achumbemo Kikon, MLA & Chairman, Climate Change & Environment Committee
- Shri K. T. Sukhalu, Advisor, Food & Civil Supply and Legal Metrology
- Shri Mhathung Yanthan, Advisor, Agriculture
- Shri S. Toiho, Deputy Speaker
- Smt. Khruohituonuo Rio, Secretary in Charge
We are deeply grateful for their vision and commitment in shaping a resilient and climate-conscious Nagaland.
The Assembly as a Beacon of Sustainability
Every watt of power, every drop of water, and every scrap of waste will be managed responsibly under this initiative. The transformation of the Assembly into a Net Zero and Zero Waste campus will include:
- Transitioning to renewable energy systems
- Introducing circular economy practices for waste management
- Ensuring efficient water use and conservation
- Integrating biodiversity-friendly landscaping
- Building climate- and disaster-resilient infrastructure
This initiative is not only about reducing environmental impact, but also about setting a living example—a model that will inspire citizens, institutions, and states across India.
Collaborative Effort
YesEarth Eco Consulting is proud to work alongside Shri Limanuksung Longkumer, State Director, Nagaland, in driving this initiative forward. Together, we envision the Assembly as a center of climate leadership, aligning governance with sustainability for the future of Nagaland.
A Vision Beyond 2028
By 2028, the Nagaland Legislative Assembly aims to stand as a beacon of climate resilience, renewable energy adoption, and responsible governance. This transformation will symbolize Nagaland’s commitment to building a future where progress does not come at the cost of nature, but in harmony with it.
At YesEarth, we believe this is just the beginning of Nagaland’s journey towards climate resilience and sustainable development. The Assembly will serve not only as the legislative heart of the state, but also as a living classroom for sustainability—a space that inspires action, accountability, and hope.
